Comments: I'm surprised to not see more comments in here. I was up there today (I hike to the top for a sunset a couple times a year) and saw tracks and chalk so I know people make it up there.

As a side note, I almost stepped on a black tail rattler towards the top (almost stepped on a tiger rattler the time before) and on the hike out there were large eyes (it was dark) reflecting about 300 feet away that followed us for a solid 10 minutes, I thought for certain I was being stalked by a mountain lion,... more >>

Comments: I'm not trying to be an ass here but I felt a need to point out that you're helmet isn't UIAA certified.

Comments: They are slightly tough to get to but given my fear of heights I figured if I can do it just about anybody can. That said, you would have to sling the boulder above it to protect stepping down onto that little single foot ledge and threading the chains. There is also a crack slightly above the chains that you can safely plug a #2 Camelot into for additional protection. I'm only 5'8" so it shouldn't be a reach for most.

Comments: I just led this again today and I'm not sure why but, I feel more comfortable leading most 8s than I do on this. I'm not saying it's a hard climb because it really isn't and I wouldn't rate it higher than a 6, it's not even the slabby issue as I've led 5.9 slab and been less sketched. I'm really not sure what the deal is as I've been up this thing a dozen times :/

It is a great climb to toss somebody on that likes thinks climbing is all about upper body strength as that's not going to help y... more >>

Comments: Just an FYI there is no first bolt (well, the bolts there, no hanger) on this climb anymore. I personally think that makes sense as there's a crack that will swallow up gear right there and the crux is protected by a bolt. Just be aware that what is now the "first" clip is a slight runout and you may want to bring some gear if you want to protect it.

Comments: This is actually one of my favorite climbs on Lemmon, there are 7 bolts with a mild runout at the bottom which could easily be protected by a .5 cam if you wanted though it's easy ground and more of a scramble to the first bolt.

Comments: Does anybody know who bolted this? I have thought about replacing the bolts at the first belay and finding a consensus on whether or not a bolt should be added to protect the runout and up top for the short rap but I wouldn't want to do anything without first talking to the f.a.

Comments: Nick, the runout is on easy ground, I would say maybe 5.3 however it is slabby so if you have never climbed on anything slabby before it may feel out of your comfort zone. This is a very new climb and while the rock all feels very solid if a hold does break or you manage to fall at the first clip, you will tumble a solid 20+ feet before hitting the ground, I will post a picture so you can see how far the bolt is from the ground. Also, this route was intended to be face climbed from the bottom ... more >>

Comments: Thank you for posting this, the info on the route is as follows:

Name: Data (The little inventor kid from Goonies)
FA: Liam Oden and Sasha Terrell
Rating: I think Liam has it at a 5.5
Protection: Gear, I think there are two placements on the route, can't recall as it isn't my route
Anchors: Boulder at the top if you wanna top rope it or just walk off

Cautions: I would not use the anchors for Goonies, at the top those anchors would be pulling you backwards and if you do come off the rock ... more >>

Comments: You know you're old school when you're calling people pushing 40 young whippersnappers! "I remember back when Moses parted the Red Sea, there was this AMAZING rock face down there"! The topo actually isn't that bad once you have already been there and no longer need it (:

Comments: Very nice! Is it bolted in a way that your first bolt or two could protect that runout on ????

Comments: Did you end up making it over there? Not the most eventful to climb on but one of the few places outside for what you're looking for. Aldo great for teaching people as the top is easy to access and there are bolts so it works for teaching people how to clean which I've also done at Gate's Pass though this boulder is much better for it.

Comments: This area is SUCH a tease, I spent a lot of time hiking around here the past few months. I would see something that looked amazing but it was such choss you could protect it with a hammer and nails /: I did manage to find one AMAZING line unlike anything else I've found in Tucson but who in their right mind is going to hike 2 miles with 1,000 feet of elevation gain for one 40 foot line.

This boulder is great if you want to hike and do a little bouldering not the other way around.

Comments: Like many of you and having lived out that way, I've eyed this up for several years, more so and like EFR the wall behind it which stands out as "different" even from the road. The hike is not that bad, I bushwacked it my first time and it still wasn't that bad though from the ground it does seem intimidating.

In all honesty, with some small effort this could be developed into a nice area on this side of town and at least an alternative to Lemmon with full winter sun. I checked on the wall EF... more >>

There is a difference between posting an observation and complaining, something to keep in mind for the next comment of mine you comment on. Be well brother.

Comments: I actually have a picture of my mom climbing this a couple years ago and I'm not even kidding! I will post it next time I come across it. She made it look like a 5.13 but that isn't saying all that much.

I do like the name :)
