Comments: Well things seem to have cleaned up quite well. The route was very clean. Steep sustained straight forward climbing.

Comments: I see from the photo that the Manzanita has been burnt away. Michael Jimmerson had to break through about 10 feet of of the stuff. It was about 6 feet tall and I was amazed at how easily you could break pretty thick branches.

Comments: Hey Greg, It is funny that I don't really remember much about this climb and have been surprised that people find this route to be so good. I only remember that it was a crack that took good pro the whole way which is rare on the Lemmon. When we did this route in the 1980s there was only one route that had been started by Steve Grossman and Peter Noebels on the wall to the left. Sounds like it would be worth checking them out.

Comments: We added the new bolts when the manzanita came down as well doing the new start sequence. Good idea to mention it.

Comments: Nice going Jake. Here is a little help. Yard Boss is left of Just Punishment then comes Safecracker. There is also an Exercise Yard Right.

Oh, and north is back toward the parking area. The steep wall is roughly north facing. This topo/guide business is hard to get right. Good for you for being helpful.

Comments: Brian's comments relate to winter visits. In the late spring, summer or early fall it is sunny in the morning. Maybe just summer.

Comments: Hey Kids, just got back to town. My memory is often faulty with anything older than a week but I thought that Ron Farrel added the bolts to this climb. I thought he climbed with you Joe and thought it would be okay. Might have been Ben Burnham too. I don't know. I am sure it can be brought back to the way you did it Joe if you want. As you say it isn't really some test piece especially from a guy who climbed the things you have climbed. Much more impressive to me are the much harder route... more >>

Comments: There are at least 3 and maybe 5 no hands rests on this route. If you think it is hard or pumpy you are not using the rests.

Comments: Is it up there on the wall next to the thin seems with the orange rock? You know the one that starts above the ledge with the bushes? You know the one with the carabiners and quick links at the anchors. A little more info would help. Except for the chain draw you just described half a dozen routes there. You might start by looking at the overhead in SQ II on page 44 so you know if you were on the Queen or not.

Is it left or right of the two routes that start the same? Is it to the right of... more >>

Comments: Not until next week. Even then you could climb at Chimney Rock if the sun is out. We are having unseasonably warm temps this year. When it gets cold you might have to climb lower on the mountain as Bear canyon is usually colder than most places on the mountain at that elevation.

Comments: Nice going Alex. Looks like you are tearing it up. I have a question for you about giving this 35 ft. long route 4 stars. If you find a route that is just like this one but 70 feet long is DWO still a 4 star route?

Comments: Damn, that sucks. I doubt it was climbers. I would guess there are a lot of folks just cruising around that place and they happened on it. Check the play it again sports stores. My buddy found his whole rack a day after his house was burglarized. If you need an working rope I will give you mine. You can still lead on it but it will not last long if you TR too much on it. Glad to hear they didn't get your drill.

Comments: Those are my bolts. Don't even think about getting on it. Haha. (Kidding) Give it a shot Andy. I think I tried to do it twice ground up and couldn't get past that section. Not saying it will not go just that I couldn't do it either time I tried.
