Location: NV : Red Rock : Juniper Canyon : Cloud Tower : Crimson Chrysalis (5.8+) By: Bryan Gohn When: 3 days ago | view comment >> | Comments: Tried this route on a weekday in spring thinking it wouldn't be crowded. Boy were we wrong. I think we were party #5 out of 6 on the wall. We maybe averaged a climbing:waiting ratio of 1:3, that's counting belaying as climbing time of course. The worst came when the party of 2 ahead of us passed the party of 3 ahead of them. Total clusterfuck ensued and me and my partner sat in our harnesses for over an hour before they got moving again. When the first party to the top began their rappel d... more >>

We had climbed the route earlier in the morning and headed over to Armatron in the afternoon. When we talked to these guys heading up the route I was happy to see them wearing bright clothes knowing I could probably get some good shots from Armatron. It's a beautiful line on an impressive face.

Location: NV : Red Rock : Juniper Canyon : Brownstone Wall : Armatron (5.9) By: Jason Halladay When: Nov 16, 2009 | view comment >> | Comments: Definitely an enjoyable route on some great rock up higher. I'd highly recommend topping out and signing the summit register. The view from the summit of the peak is astounding and the walk off goes quickly. Rapping down through some of that featured rock seems like it could easily result in a stuck rope anyway.
5.9 leaders should not be worried about the rating of this line. If there was any 5.9 climbing on this route I didn't notice it and the protection is great. The rest of the climbing ... more >>

Location: NV : Red Rock : Juniper Canyon : Rose Tower : Olive Oil (5.7) By: John Wilder When: Nov 16, 2009 | view comment >> | Comments: Aimee-
They were very unnecessary- they didnt allow for rappel (the anchors were only at the top of the 2nd and 3rd pitches), and there were good gear anchors right next to them. Since there was no real advantage for them, they were rightfully chopped. (IMHO, its one of the better chop jobs i've seen- the old bolt holes are VERY tough to find...)

Location: NV : Red Rock : Juniper Canyon : Cloud Tower : Hook, Line, and Whimper (5.10- R) By: Doug Redosh When: Nov 12, 2009 | view comment >> | Comments: On 11/08/09 We climbed a pitch to the left of p1 of this route, up the obvious crack/corner system (5.9)to an uncomfortable hanging belay 25 feet below the huge yucca. (New route???) We then traversed R (5.8)to the first set of old buttonhead bolts on Hook, Line and Whimper, then followed P2 (difficult pro), to the second set of old buttonheads. We then rapped, using the first bolt on P3 as backup (leaving 4 long slings and 4 biners - free for the taking!) down to the good anchors at the top of... more >>
